Modern Ancient Sanctuary is located in South America, Peru.
We are based in an Amazon jungle city called Iquitos.
Getting here:

Iquitos has an international 24 hour airport called 'Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta'. Our retreat center is 20 minutes by car or 40 minutes by motortaxi from the airport. We pick up all students on arrival. You definitely won't miss us as we will be holding up a big MODERN ANCIENT sign!
About Iquitos:

Iquitos is known as the captial of the Peruvian Amazon and is situated on the Amazon river, in the middle of the jungle. It is the capital of the Loreto Region and Maynas Province. The population of Iquitos is around half a million, making it the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest and without any access by road. Iquitos can only be accessed by air or water.
Climate in Iquitos:

You can expect lovely, very warm and sunny weather all year round. Iquitos has a typical tropical rainforest climate with abundant rainfall as well as fairly hot and humid temperatures throughout the year. The average annual temperature in Iquitos is approximately 26°C (80°F). Temperatures can rise up to 31°C (88°F) in the day and drop to 22°C (72°F) in the evening.
Demographics:

This jungle city is home to many expats from around the world. It is also home to many Chinese, Brazilian, native Iquitos and Columbian people. There are traces of indigenous culture in and around Iquitos. Some of the tribes that still exist and follow ancient traditions include, but are not limited to, Shipibos, Matses, Bora, Urarinas, Huitoto, Jebero, Achua and Yaguas.
Transport in Iquitos:
You won't see a large number of cars. The main form of transport is a three wheeled mototaxi which is perfect for the weather in Iquitos. It is covered with an open front to allow in plenty of breeze. Mototaxis are found in abundance and dominate the streets. Motortaxis are a fun and comfortable form of transportation. We will be picking you up from the airport in a motortaxi, authentic Iquitos style!
