FIND YOUR TRIBE
We know different things work for different people. So we’ve built
a program to to allow you experience a wide spectrum of personal
growth and higher consciousness related modalities.
The combination of sacred plant medicine, ayurvedic and yogic practices, non-medicinal modalities including NLP and sacred sciences allows one to experience and obtain a deeper holistic perspective of their journey in a practical way.
While such non-medicinal modalities are indeed practiced independent of sacred medicine we have discovered that fantastic and accelerated holistic healing benefits are experienced when combined with the safe and responsible use of sacred medicine.
For centuries and throughout the ages people have always marveled at the stars and planets, seeking to understand the correlation between the heavenly bodies and earthly events on a grand scale as well as a more intimate level through one’s own horoscope. As a metaphysical discipline, it brings together scientific knowledge, psychology and institution to identify and articulate energetic patterns.
Astrology provides everything on the planet that has been birthed with a birth chart, towns, relationships, marriages, and people. This then becomes the blueprint for that event or person. It is an insightful tool to enable one to become conscious of the energy of their chart and obtain clarity on their energetic imprint. One is then able gain the best from each transit or cycle, as awareness brings personal power and fulfilment. An astrology chart can give us a deeper understanding of our personal makeup and all the aspects of our personality as well our purpose in this lifetime, which can help foster our connection to our Higher-Self .
Modern Ancient assists students to understand how astrology can support their journey, including working positively with the energy patterns contained within their chart and understanding the journey of the soul, past life pre-occupations and its purpose for this lifetime (dharma, Sanskrit for ‘righteous living’).
Ayurveda, translated from Sanskrit as the ‘science of life’, is a 5,000 year old holistic healthcare system originating in India. It is founded upon the belief that all areas of life impact health, and seeks an understanding of one’s lifestyle and nutrition. A key difference between this ancient system and the current western medical field is that Ayurveda treats an individual as a whole while the latter focuses on the individual as a patient. The Ayurveda approach allow us to recognize that there is not a one size fits all cure or medicine for the same dis-ease or issue in two different people; there is no lifestyle or diet that works for all as every individual is unique. The process involves the diagnosis of an individual’s constitution, of which there are three types (doshas) consisting of a dual elemental (earth, fire, air, water, ether) composition. When one or more of these elements are not balanced within the body, sickness can occur. Ayurveda therefore focuses on rebalancing and strengthening the elements within the body, through nutrition and lifestyle, in line with its natural state to overcome dis-ease.
Modern Ancient provides education to assist with determination of an individual’s dosha as well as coaching on lifestyle and nutrition changes that are needed to rebalance the doshas.
You may be familiar with the notion that you and everything around you is energy. Energy consists of frequencies that vibrate at different levels, commonly measured in Hertz (Hz). Therefore everything in this universe, including you, is vibrating at a frequency. For example, a 528Hz frequency is known to be the frequency of love, otherwise referred to as the universal healer. Our brains comprise (billions of) neurons that continuously transmit signals and create electrical activity in our brain (brainwaves), all of which can be seen and measured by modern day science. Human brainwaves contain such frequencies that change depending on our mood, external stimuli and our current state of being e.g. if we are awake or sleeping. Brainwave audio is crafted in Hz and mimics the brainwaves (Hz frequencies) that a person naturally emits, Therefore if one is able to align with a certain Hz then they are more likely to induce that state of being by being in resonance with that particular frequency. This is very beneficial and therapeutic for those with mood disorders and depression as well as achieving different states of mind for meditation and other purposes.
By way of background, in 1954 German physicist Professor W.O.Schumann detected resonances in electromagnetic standing waves in the atmosphere, within the cavity formed by the surface of the earth and the ionosphere, at a main frequency of 7.83 Hz. Since this discovery, much global investigation and researched has been performed on “Schumann resonance” including by Princeton University’s Global Consciousness Project (researchers believe that many people around the world were affected by 9/11 in the same way that their collective mental energy actually altered the operation of computers) and HeartMath Institute’s Global Coherence Research.
Modern Ancient provides pre-recorded audio throughout its workshops that are aligned to key topics within the Trinity Program©.
Bio-energy healing, otherwise known as ‘energy medicine’, is classified as a form of holistic healing that treats emotional, mental and physical ailments. It is built upon the premise that there is an etheric field (bio-energy system) that surrounds the body and is capable of self-regeneration in the event of disruption to its naturally occurring state. However, to stimulate this natural regenerative ability the field needs to be rebalanced by removing trapped energy (‘blockages’) that has manifested in undesirable emotional, mental and physical issues. Therefore bio-energy healing works to remove such blockages, create balance and subsequently restore wellness.
The origins of bio-energy can be traced back thousands of years to various traditions, initially India, China and Japan, and is generally known as a life force or life giving energy that is present in all living organisms. Ancient Indian tradition proclaims a universal life breath called ‘prana’, Sanskrit for constant movement or motion. The Chinese refer to this universal life force as ‘chi’, which had its earliest mention in the ‘I Ching’ (otherwise known as ‘The Book of Change’); an ancient Chinese divination text published in the 9th century BC. Chi flows through non-physical meridian lines in the body and consists of two polar opposite forces (the yin and yang) that must be brought into balance to achieve wellness. For the majority of traditions, this source of this energy emanates from Spirit, derived from the Latin word ‘spirtus’, which means ‘breath’ (of life). The concept of Spirit as an all-encompassing field that connects everyone and everything together, and the place from which the soul has individuated, offers that a non-linear or non-intellectual experience of reality is at the core of each and every being.
The study of quantum physics, the structure of energy matter, relays that physical atoms are comprised of vortices of energy that constantly spin, vibrate and each contains a unique identity. The structure of an atom, containing quarks and photons, reveals that there is no physical or tangible matter at its core. This subject has continued to evolve to arguably support and explore the evolution of epigenetics and whether reality is devised purely on physical matter. Both these areas represent important advancements in understanding the subtle energetic body and the life giving force that many cultures have long practiced.
The foundation of the Trinity Program© at Modern Ancient is driven by the principles of bio-energy and the framework used on retreat is constructed upon the principles of Indian and Chinese energy systems. Specifically, the chakra system identifies seven major energy centers. From an energetic perspective each chakra is associated with various physical, mental, and emotional qualities and conditions. Each chakra is also a representation of physical parts of the body, including major glands and organs. Unbalanced chakras where blockages have manifested result in dis-ease or malfunctioning of the respective physical body part. Blockages can result from a variety of issues and traumas suffered, trapping energy in the physical cells and thriving on unhealthy thought patterns, beliefs, habits and characteristics. Blockages can either be of an excessive or deficient state, or they can be balanced which means the energy is flowing freely.
Note that it is not the therapist who makes the healing occur but rather it is that the therapist acts as a conduit to facilitate the healing progress in the client by triggering the natural responses of the body. It is crucial that the client keep an open mind regarding his belief in his ability to heal and be well again, and that mindset is present and authentic. The results of many case studies support an increasing volume of widespread literature substantiating bio-energy therapy as an effective healing art, including but certainly not limited to the work of Dr. William Bengston (as detailed in his book The Energy Cure) to heal cancer patients and scientifically proven as a technique to cure mice of cancer.
*Bio-energy sessions are available before or after a retreat with Suya Devi.
The Chakra system is an energy framework derived from Indian that identifies seven major energy centers along the spinal column. Chakra in Sanskrit refers to a ‘wheel’ of spinning energy; a powerful vortex of energy. From an energetic perspective each chakra is associated with various physical, mental, and emotional qualities and conditions. Each chakra is a representation of physical parts of the body, including major glands. Unbalanced chakras where blockages have manifested result in dis-ease including malfunctioning of the respective physical body part. Blockages can result from a variety of issues and traumas suffered, trapping energy in the physical cells and thriving on unhealthy thought patterns, beliefs, habits and characteristics. Blockages can either be of an excessive or deficient state, or they can be balanced which means the energy is flowing freely.
Ancient yogic tradition refers to the subtle energy body, separate to the physical body, where prana (life-force, energy) flows through numerous miniscule pathways known as nadis (Sanskrit for ‘channel’ or ‘stream’). The subtle energy body consists of five layers (koshas): Annamaya (physical body), Pranamaya(prana energy body containing the meridian system), Manomaya (emotional mind and senses), Vijanamaya (intellect and higher intuition) and Anandamaya (pure awareness and divine grounding). According to tantric texts, there are 72,000 nadis in the body channelling prana to each cell. However the three nadis considered to be of most significance are Ida (feminine channel), Pingala (masculine channel) and Sushumna (central spiritual channel). The Ida and Pingala nadisbegin their ascent from the base of the spine flowing from left and right respectively, as they cross around the Sushumna, and work their way through the major energy centers, chakras, within the subtle energy body. Traditionally there are seven major chakras through which these two nadis flow, beginning at the first chakra (Root/ Muladhara) and through to the seventh (Crown/ Sahasrara) chakra, with the ultimate aim of balancing these two energies so as to invoke a transcendental power, known as Kundalini (Sanskrit for ‘coiled snake’ ), which lays dormant at the base of the spine in the first chakra.
When Kundalini (Shakti) is awakened it travels up the Sushumna (the spine in the physical body) to meets with pure consciousness (Shiva) in the Crown chakra. This unification, balancing of the male and female energies, is the embodiment of enlightenment, where the soul returns to spirit and supreme and divine consciousness is achieved. On physical level this results in peace, love and bliss that allows for inner fulfilment.
Modern Ancient provides insights into understanding the chakra system as part of the Trinity Programⓒ, including dynamic workshops and effective breathwork and meditation techniques to experience, heal and bring focus to the system. The program further outlines a variety of restoration routes for imbalanced chakras, including physical and mental healing practices to bring chakras back into balance and to reset thought and belief patterns, subsequently directing the energy into a free flowing and healthy state.
People have always been attracted to crystals, whether it is for their healing properties or simply for decoration. Crystals have existed since the formation of Earth and retain much information about our Earth’s history and events. Crystals provide multi-purpose use, and there is much to learn and gain from crystals in the form of technology, physical healing and spiritual development. For example, Quartz crystals, due to their precise ability to maintain a frequency standard, is used in many types of technology as they are excellent absorbers, conductors and transmitters of energy. Further, a Kirlian camera makes it possible to see the influence of the crystal’s energy on one’s electromagnetic field as well as the crystal’s influence on the electromagnetic field of animals, plants and objects.
Crystals, like everything else, are matter and energy and vibrate at a certain frequency. The frequency of crystals can assist in supporting and amplifying one’s intentions and vibration, as their molecules are arranged in a perfect geometrical and orderly fashion, thus emitting a coherent energy field and powerful vibrations as they maintain their base frequency. This is not true of the human bio-energy field as humans are easily suggestible (whether that be influenced or programmable) and do not have the same coherence and geometrically perfect molecules. However, we can use our programmable and suggestible states in a positive way to align with any vibration that we choose. Crystals can influence and assist humans to align with higher vibrational frequencies as long as the crystal is charged and consistently held with such an intention. It is thought that crystals usually choose an individual and therefore if you find yourself drawn to a particular crystal, then it is likely that it holds a vibration that can assist in serving your highest good.
At Modern Ancient, we use crystals in ceremonies and meditations.
‘Higher-Self’ is a term that refers to the highest ideal of oneself that can be attained and embodied in the physical realm. It is differentiated from the personal self, and is known as Atman in Sanskrit (translates simply as ‘Self’). The term originated from Hindu scriptures and was later defined by HP Blavastsky as ‘Atma the inseparable ray of the Universe and one self. It is the God above, more than within, us’. Essentially, it is our connection to source, or the supreme spirit, and provides an understanding at the highest level – beyond the experiences chosen by the soul where there are many souls but only one spirit. Our Higher-Self is therefore our true divine nature. The distinction and proper understanding of the higher self is an important one and grounding the wisdom of the Higher Self into one’s personal reality is a key aspect in our human and spiritual development.
Modern Ancient seeks to assist its students in consciously re-connecting with their Higher-Self through a specifically designed meditation to distinguish the voice of the Higher-Self from the ego identity. Healing work, balancing mind, body and spirit including clearing performed through sacred plant medicine and non- medicinal modalities allows students to strengthen the connection to their Higher-Self.
The Higher-Self- meditation works on supporting one to surrender, accept and align with the higher power that resides within their very being – the core of one’s true nature. These teachings and meditations were taught to the co-founders by their father during their traditional Hindu upbringing, and originated from their Indian ancestors. It is personally performed by the Modern Ancient family – and was used to support the creation of Modern Ancient itself!
There are numerous benefits associated with the use of Hypnotherapy, which continues to be used in various settings. For example, it has been used to treat different states of mind, addictions and behavioral imbalances. Depending on one’s level of suggestibility, hypnotherapy can also be used to reprogram the beliefs systems and thoughts that create dis-ease in the body as well as grow, heal and regenerate cells within the body. As documented by prominent psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss, hypnotherapy is also used to facilitate past life regression (identifying and releasing trauma by delving deeply into the records of one’s soul). As with any other modality, one must be receptive to non-linear methods of creating change, and be aware that not every method produces the same results in each person given that we all carry different brain wave patterns.
Hypnotherapy works with the three minds: conscious, subconscious and super-conscious. The subconscious mind records everything; every minute detail of what we see, think and feel but it does not have any kind of rational or independent thinking. The subconscious mind emits the same frequencies and energies that it is fed to it through our thoughts and feelings and the external stimuli in our environment e.g. what we see and hear on television. It is this subconscious mind that programs the conscious mind. The conscious mind is the mind that you are reading with now. It has the ability to think rationally and independently but it is heavily influenced by the state of the subconscious mind. The super-conscious mind is the Higher-Self: your higher spiritual mind which contains the library and records of every minute detail of each soul’s journey within that Higher-Self’s group.
Hypnotherapy is an effective tool in reprogramming thought patterns and past conditioning of the subconscious so our conscious thoughts, feelings and behavior follow suit. Therefore perseverance, patience and repetition in reprogramming the subconscious mind is key.
At Modern Ancient, we provide live and pre-recorded audio that includes binaural beats. One either comfortably sits or lies down sits and listens through headphones. It is important to limit physical activity and avoid falling asleep when listening to Hypnotherapy as the conscious and subconscious mind should be relaxed but awake for effective programming to take place. In this state, without physical distractions, the conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind is better receptive to reprogramming.
Sungazing is an advanced spiritual practice that has many incredible benefits. It is considered advanced as it is said that when an individual achieves the full benefits of sungazing, it is no longer necessary to eat to survive. Not eating means not killing in order to live and instead one is able to use the sun’s energy instead to sustain their human life. Achieving the full benefits of sungazing is a step-by-step process that can takes years to cultivate and many do not necessarily need to strive to reach a mature stage to reap the benefits of sungazing. On a practical level one could consider renouncing meat, then fish to eventually become vegetarian. This then allows for the next step to veganism and finally to only consumes raw vegan food. Following the raw vegan stage, one may then practice fasting and begin to prefer it to the desire of food. Fasting periods may be practiced for an extended period as the body adjusts to the change. Sungazing can be practiced throughout the whole process of different food consumption stages described above and at any stage of one’s development phase.
The reported benefits of sungazing include improved overall health, eyesight (note this is contrary to current western medical advice that staring directly at the sun causes sight deficiencies however, do exercise your own personal judgment and experience if choosing to participate), vitality, production of melatonin and serotonin and spiritual development. When one reaches a certain stage of sungazing, their appetite is greatly reduced and their energy levels drastically increase. The last stages, and not commonly reported cases (given the practice is not conducive to modern living!), of achieving the full benefits of sungazing results in optimum health and higher energy levels, as one completely renounces food and only lives on the energy of the sun. After a few months of engaging in a regular sungazing practice it is possible for one to notice significant changes in their diet and appetite levels.
Sungazing is usually practiced at sunrise and sunset for a few seconds to start with, then extending the time for up to ten minutes and further half an hour depending on whether one feels ready or comfortable to progress. Many people find it relaxing as they progress in their practice, and connecting with earth energy by standing barefoot enhances the benefits. Higher- Self meditations, visualizations and affirmations are included during sungazing sessions.
Note: A dedicated sungazing session is practiced on all retreats and further sessions are organized according to level of interest where the schedule permits.
NLP encompasses three key influential components which drive the human experience: neurology, language and programming. While the neurological function regulates how our bodies respond, the language we use (the words themselves, together with the structure including speed, voice tone and rhythm) reflects how we engage and communicate with other people and our programming is based on the models we use to create our reality. Therefore Neuro-Linguistic Programming identifies the core dynamics between mind (neuro), language (linguistic) and how both affect our body and behavior (programming).
Dr Richard Bandler, who invented the term “Neuro-Linguistic Programming” in the 1970s, described NLP as “a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behavior and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them” and “a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behavior.” While NLP is a dimensional process concerned with behavioral competence, strategic thinking, mental and cognitive processes behind human behavior, it focuses on establishing a new set of empowering beliefs, communication and understanding of the process of changes. Importantly, NLP can allows us to understand universal law and spirituality on a practical level in our everyday lives.
Modern Ancient uses NLP throughout the Trinity Program© including during workshops, classes, medicine preparation as well as as ongoing coaching on retreat to embed positive change as a conscious process.
This mind, body and soul therapy is incredibly relaxing, healing and soothing. In India, Shirodhara Ayurvedic, known as “third eye therapy” is thought of as an important practice that assists one in achieving higher states of consciousness. It seeks to regulate and balance the hormones in the body by working on the hypothalamus gland, pineal gland and pituitary gland. Through this wonderful treatment, one is able to release a significant percentage of natural hormones such as serotonin, dopamine and melatonin. The spiritual result of this treatment is greater connection to one’s Higher-Self and opening of the “Third Eye”. The physical result of this treatment has a calming effect on the nervous system and generally improves mood and depression issues. Further, recipients of the treatment have reported less fatigue, digestion disorders, headaches migraines and insomnia. Additional benefits include an improved memory and IQ levels, skin and hair conditions such as premature graying and hair loss.
At Modern Ancient, the treatment is available during our Divine Speak retreat program. Experiencing the Shirodhara Ayurevedic ‘third eye therapy’ during this period serves to magnify the benefits and is felt from deep within. The blend of oils that we use for this treatment include: Black seed oil, olive oil, frankincense essential oil, cedarwood essential oil and sandalwood essential oil. The treatment is performed when one is comfortably lying on their back. A steady stream of the warm oil is poured on the forehead and flows over the scalp and hair.
Silence is one of the world’s greatest teachers. Because when there are no distractions or speaking, and we truly listen from our hearts, the inner voice of spirit can be heard and a state of tranquility may be achieved. Through silent meditation we begin to see and feel the presence of our Higher-Self, moving away from the preferences of our mind and ego identity. It is here where we can begin to understand why silence is truly golden.
Note: select activities and workshops are held in silence to facilitate inner work. While single session silent meditation is practiced and taught on all retreats, a more extensive practice is organized according to group interest and needs.
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” The Bhagavad Gita.
It is a widely held belief that the great Indian Sage, Patanjali, created the Yoga Sutra around 2,000 years ago. The Sutra comprises 195 statements that serve as a philosophical guidebook for most of the yoga that is practiced today. One of the best definitions of yoga (Sanskrit for ‘union’) was provided by Patanjali himself, who noted ‘Yoga is the blocking (nirodha) of mental modifications (chitta vritti) so that the seer (drashta) re-identifies with the (higher) Self’. The practice of yoga is built upon eight limbs (Ashtanga) and is designed such that one begins to refine external actions and behaviors before finally reaching samadhi, the eight limb of liberation and enlightenment. Today, it is the third limb asana (physical posture) that is most practiced and referred to as ‘yoga’ in the west.
Ancient yogic tradition refers to the subtle energy body, separate to the physical body, where prana flows through numerous miniscule pathways known as nadis(Sanskrit for ‘channel’ or ‘stream’). The subtle energy body consists of five layers (koshas): Annamaya (physical body), Pranamaya (prana energy body containing the meridian system), Manomaya (emotional mind and senses), Vijanamaya (intellect and higher intuition) and Anandamaya (pure awareness and divine grounding). According to tantric texts, there are 72,000 nadis in the body channeling prana to each cell. However the three nadis within the spine are considered to be of most significance: Ida (feminine channel), Pingala (masculine channel) and Sushumna (central spiritual channel). The Ida and Pingala nadis begin their ascent from the base of the spine flowing from left and right respectively, as they cross around the Sushumna, and work their way through the major energy centers, known as chakras, within the subtle energy body. There are seven chakras through which these two nadis flow, beginning at the first chakra (Root/ Muladhara) and through to the seventh (Crown/ Sahasrara) chakra, with the ultimate aim of balancing these two energies so as to invoke a transcendental power, known as Kundalini (meaning ‘coiled snake’ in Sanskrit), which lays dormant at the base of the spine in the first chakra.
Modern Ancient delivers a varied yoga schedule to support grounding of the sacred plant medicine experiences. Retreats include, but are not limited to:
-Ashtanga (8 limbs) Vinyassa, as a modern day classical form of Indian yoga popularized by K.Pattabhi Jois
-Kundalini, an ancient practice, known as the yoga of awareness , that was previously reserved for the privileged elite, but brought to California in the 1960s by Yogi Bajan who proclaimed that “It is everyone’s birthright to be healthy, happy, and holy, and the practice of Kundalini Yoga is the way to claim that birthright.”
-Karma, the yoga of service
-Japa, the yoga of mantra
Instruction is provided to allow for modifications to suit all levels from beginners to advanced yogis. Familiarization with sun salutations (Surya Namaskara A and B) is recommended but not required.
The effects of non-medicinal modalities in conjunction with the use of sacred medicine creates a profound shift, as sacred plant medicine performs profound healing that can bring awareness to unconscious patterns. The medicine supports rebalancing of the bio-energetic sphere, so physical and other ailments (e.g. addictions, depression, lack of financial stability and abundance, lack of direction, health problems and relationship issues) may be addressed. We use the power of sacred plant medicine as a platform to drive positive change, develop wisdom and create vision.
Modern Ancient was a very different experience than my previous ceremonies, mainly because of the thorough preparation and the education about what’s happening to you on all levels. I love the group sharing, care and love they facilitated between us all. My experience with Iboga which was a new medicine for me, was incredible - more like a lifetime of therapy in one night! This also could have been because I ‘navigated’ in the way they advised us and undertook all preparation sent. I took bio-energy sessions for three months for my post integration and I would really recommend that for anyone because it was also like a deeper level of life coaching. I finally have more income and at the same time discovering my purpose in this lifetime with your loving support.

I am blessed to have been looked after by such beautiful people and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This is a very professional, knowledgeable, compassion and down to earth team, and it was obvious even from the decision following my one on one conversation to do more iboga and less ayahuasca (they explained the chakras to me and because of my energetic body and life issues I have going on) right through to the integration and coaching I had before and after ceremony. The attention to detail, small group and personalization is phenomenal, I felt so supported by everyone. I hope that they will continue with this level of quality as they grow and formalize the center in Peru because they will no doubt be the place of choice for this type of work. Also I had never been so interested in yoga before and now I am hooked on Kundalini and already feeling grounded into my physical body.

If you are not sure about Modern Ancient, call them and ask every question under the sun - like I did! and you will feel by speaking to them that they really care about you and what’s going on in your life. I feel a lot more confident in my spiritual path, and it was very refreshing to have this all explained to me in quite simple terms. The pain I had along my left leg and hamstring which came and went over the past few years has since disappeared and hasn’t returned! Also I was able to make the connection with the things I need to change to move forward. I’m happy I took this jump - thank you to Modern Ancient for making this an unforgettable experience.
